Kevin Gangoo, died 2019-09-01, 32 years old

On 27th August at approx. 7:15pm, I was informed by relatives at my home that my husband was on his way home with relatives in a maxi-taxi (relative’s maxi) when  the conductor’s door opened and my husband, in attempting to close it back, accidentally fell out of the maxi. He was hospitalised for six (6) days at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH). Test results revealed trauma to the brain.

On the 1st September 2019, during the morning period, I was informed by the staff on the ward that the doctor said that he was doing fine and he would be up for possible discharge on 2nd September. However approximately at 6.00pm, he developed a seizure and was then reviewed by doctors. He was pronounced dead at 7.21pm that night. Post-mortem results revealed there was increased Intracranial Pressure to the brain – bleeding to the brain – secondary to road traffic accident.

My husband and I were very close. I am having a very difficult time coping with this situation. I have faith that one day I will be with him again. It was a sudden death. It has been a hard struggle thus far even though people would say that as time goes by, it would get easier to cope.
