The Driver

A safe driver is one who:

  • Pays attention
  • Does not speed
  • Does not drive impaired
  • Wears a seatbelt
  • Ensures his passengers also buckles up front & back
  • Drives defensively
  • Is well rested
  • Respects other vulnerable road users like cyclists, pedestrians and motor cyclists

A safe driver also:

  • Gives way
  • Does not run red lights
  • Stops on the amber light
  • Does not drive while angry or upset
  • Does not tailgate – see our stopping distance chart indicating why this is so very important!
  • Does not drive over the speed limit
  • Only overtakes on the right hand lane
  • Stays in the left hand lane unless overtaking
  • Obey the traffic laws
