“I CAN’T believe I lost my baby brother. We were very dose.” Grieving San Juan/Barataria Regional Corporation councillor Kwesi Antoine shared his thoughts with the Express after he lost his younger brother Keron Antoine, 34, in an accident on Saturday morning.
Antoine, of 25 Circular, Sixth Avenue, Malick, Barataria, and passenger Samantha Beepath, 29, died after their vehicle hit the concrete bridge spanning the Guayamare River on the Uriah Butler Highway and plunged into the river. It is uncertain if the couple drowned or died from crash injuries. Their deaths are the first road fatalities for 2019.
The elder Antoine said: “The family is shocked. We are saddened. His children Armani, Karmani and Jervia are traumatised. They were close to him.” Sharing his last memories of their family time last Friday, Antoine said: “We limed on Friday. He picked up both our children and took them to hockey practice. After we would take them for ice cream and a snack. It is just shocking to know he is not here. The children are in a state. They are missing their daddy.” Keron Antoine’s funeral is expected to take place tomorrow at Barataria Seventh Day Adventist at Tenth Street, Barataria, at 10 a.m.
