Know the traffic laws, signs and signals.
WHILE WALKING
- Hold the hand of young children
- Use designated walkways
- Walk facing traffic
- Do no congregate in groups on the main road
- Put away mobile phones and headphones
- Stay alert and look out for hazards
CROSS SAFELY
- Look right, look left, and then look right again
- Stay on the pavement until there is no traffic coming
- Always use the pedestrian crossings and traffic lights
- Try to make eye contact with drivers
- Never cross behind vehicles
AT NIGHT
- Wear white, bright, reflective or fluorescent clothes
- Carry a torchlight
