Remembering:

Clinton Paponette

Clinton Paponette, died 2016-10-16, 33 years old.

On 15th October 2016, my husband and I planned on spending a quiet evening out. When he was invited to go to Mayaro, against better judgement, he went. I stayed up most of the night awaiting his return. Around minutes to 2.00 am, there was a knock on my door. When I asked what was wrong, I was told that my husband was involved in an accident. I was not told at the time how serious it was until I called the number of the person who gave me the message earlier. I asked about the unconscious person and the person on the other end replied, “Lady, that man not unconscious nah; he dead.”

At that moment, I went into what seemed like a dream. I went through the funeral and everything after confused and lost. My husband kissed us goodbye, hugged Sophie and said he would be back – he never came back.

It is now 2019 and I have now started living again and wrapping my head around it. I have been hospitalised for two (2) months this year and I’m now on Florexitine for anxiety. However, because of Sophie, I needed to pull myself together and move forward. The sad thing is that my husband did not do anything to cause this. He was just the front seat passenger and his case is still unsolved.
